A body was discovered inside a home at 148 Bridge Builders Road on Monday morning after one of the trailers on the property caught fire and burned to the ground.

Fire and law enforcement officials say a positive identification has not been made on the body, which has been sent for autopsy. The TBI Arson & Bomb Unit is investigating.

The call of a fire on the property was received at 6:33 a.m. Monday morning. The trailer is located in Newtown. Centertown Fire Department responded with assistance from North Warren and Morrison.

“We had a couple guys in the area and they arrived on scene within a matter of minutes of getting the call,” said Centertown Fire Chief Phillip Prater. “It was probably 70% involved at that time. There was nothing we could have done to save this individual’s life due to the intensity of the fire and the spot where we found the body.”

Trailer fires are notorious for spreading quickly and Prater pointed out this was an older-model trailer.

The autopsy will determine if the person had died before the fire, or died as a result of the fire.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Department, which is assisting the investigation, says a positive identification has not been made.
