Registration is underway for the Queens for a Cause Autism Awareness 5K to be held April 22 at 8 a.m. in downtown McMinnville.
The event is hosted by the Queens for a Cause Autism Awareness Team and early registration is $25 now through March 17.
“We have such a great community,” said team member Darlene Bryant. “The people of Warren County are always ready and willing to come together to support a good cause. I am proud to be part of such a great team and be part of such a caring, generous community.”
Last year’s race had over 300 participants.
“We are hoping to break our own record this year,” said Bryant. “I’m hoping the schools will become more involved this year. We would love to see each school being represented with their own team. We will be awarding prizes again this year for the team with the most members, and the team that has the best team spirit.”
Team Dibrell and Team Boyd Christian have participated in the past.
Last year, the Queens for a Cause Autism Awareness Team made monetary donations and purchased supplies for special needs classrooms. Proceeds were also donated to Autism Speaks and Autism Tennessee.  Autism Speaks’ main focus is on research and legislation, Autism Tennessee deals with resources for children with autism and their families. 
This year’s theme is “Star Wars: Find the missing pieces, together we can.” T-shirts can be purchased for $15 by those who do not want to participate in the 5K.
Registration forms can be picked up at USA Gym, McMinnville Civic Center, Donald Hillis Realty, Security Federal Bank, Chamber of Commerce, First National Bank, and Warren County Trustee’s office. Registration the day of the race will be from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m.
