Warren County voters have the chance to have their voices heard Thursday, with several races up for grabs in Tennessee state primaries and the county general election.
Polls open Thursday at 8 a.m., and will remain open until 7 p.m.
In the local general election, voters in the second school board district will decide a race for that seat between incumbent Bill Zechman, who is running as an independent, and veteran law enforcement officer Jarvis Johnson, who is running as a Republican.
The other contested local race, which is open to all Warren County voters, will decide the office of Assessor of Property. Vying for the office are incumbent Beth Woodlee Martin, who is running as an independent, and Republican local business owner Jeff T. McGee.
School board candidates Matthew Brown and Tommy Culwell are running unopposed in Districts 4 and 6, respectively.
In the primaries for one of Tennessee’s two U.S. Senate seats, incumbent Marsha Blackburn faces Tres Wittum on the Republican side, while Marquita Bradshaw, Lola Denise Brown, Gloria Johnson and Civil Miller-Watkins are vying for the Democratic nomination.
The Republican nominee for the U.S. House of Representatives in District 4 will be decided between Thomas E. Davis, incumbent Scott DesJarlais and Joshua James, while Victoria Isabel Broderick is running unopposed on the Democratic side. In District 6, incumbent John Rose is running unopposed in the Republican primary, while Lore Bergman, Clay Faircloth and Cyril Focht are all hoping to unseat him by winning the Democratic nomination.
In state races, incumbent Janice Bowling will secure the Republican nomination for the Tennessee Senate’s District 16 seat, and will face Wayne Steele, who is running unopposed in the Democratic primary, this November.
Three Republicans – Tim Lewis, Robert McCormick, and incumbent Paul Sherrell, are seeking their party’s nomination for the state house’s 43rd District seat. No Democratic candidate qualified for Thursday’s primary.
Rupa Blackwell is running unopposed in the Democratic primary for State Executive Committeewoman from District 16, and judge retentions in the Tennessee Supreme Court and Western Division Court of Appeals are also on Thursday’s ballot.
