TBI Director Mark Gwyn says sex slavery is rampant in Tennessee.
Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Director Mark Gwyn says the public would be shocked to find how widespread cases of human trafficking and sex slavery have become in Tennessee.“What we’ve seen is unbelievable,” Gwyn told McMinnville’s Noon Rotary Club on Thursday. “We have agents go online and pose as 14- and 15-year-old girls and within an hour they’ve received a hundred phone calls from men.”Gwyn, who was raised in Warren County and started his law enforcement career here, said the TBI has started conducting undercover sex slavery operations. He pointed out the victims are very often underage girls, noting a runaway girl will, on average, come into contact with a human trafficker, or pimp, within 48 hours of being on the streets.
