Take a paws to appreciate pets
Pet - Madeline Keeton with Sophie & Pixie.jpg
Madeline Keeton is pictured with her adorable matching dogs, Sophie and Pixie.

From donkeys to dogs, Warren County residents love their pets.

Thursday was National Love Your Pet Day and the Standard asked for pet photos to be posted on our Facebook page.

The response was overwhelming with hundreds of pictures making their way online.

Denise Griffin posted a photo of Ruby, her English mastiff, wearing glasses. It did make Ruby look a bit smarter.

Ava Carden was shown with her cattle, with mother Joanna explaining the cows are like pets.

The pictures included special nap times together. Kylee Jennings took a nap on top of his boxer, Gus, while Kane Johnson was snuggled up next to his cat, Binx.

Having a pet can improve health. According to the Centers for Disease Control, studies have shown the bond between people and their pets can increase fitness, lower stress, and bring happiness.

Some of the health benefits of having a pet include decreased blood pressure, decreased cholesterol levels, decreased triglyceride levels, decreased feelings of loneliness, increased opportunities for exercise and outdoor activities, and increased opportunities for socialization.
