Main Street McMinnville’s 2018 Spring Clean to beautify downtown is slated for the morning of April 21.

“This event celebrates Earth Day and provides an opportunity for students and community members to get hands on caring for our historic district,” said Katie Kemezis, executive director of Main Street McMinnville. “Spring Clean is an exciting overlap of civic engagement and environmental stewardship.”

Volunteers will meet beside the fountain at a welcome booth.

From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., they will spring into cleaning action.

“Volunteers will receive assignments and work together to beautify the downtown core with special attention to areas such as alleys and parking areas,” said Kemezis. “From the booth, members of Main Street will be handing out assignments to volunteers, sharing tips and resources for environmental stewardship, and offering a place for volunteers to rest.”

The city of McMinnville will be providing use of garbage cans for trash and bins to collect items for recycling, brooms or rakes to collect leaves, and disposable gloves to protect individuals picking up trash.
