It’s time for the Warren County Senior Farmers Market Program, which provides free fruits and vegetables to eligible senior citizens.
Applications will be taken every Tuesday and Thursday in May from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Three Star Mall. Seniors will be issued vouchers on July 1 at the Warren County Health Department. The Senior Farmers Market Program is for Warren County residents who are 60 years and older and meet income guidelines.
This program is designed to assist seniors in purchasing fresh fruits and vegetables by utilizing vouchers at the Warren County Farmers Market.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for eligible senior citizens to increase their daily servings of fresh fruits and vegetables at no cost, and support our local farming community,” said Andrea Fox, director of the Warren County Health Department.
Authorized farmers provide fresh, unprocessed, Tennessee-grown produce including fruits, herbs and vegetables. This helps the local economy as well as improves the participants’ health. Participants will receive $30 to $40 in vouchers for July and August to be used at the Warren County Farmers Market.
To be eligible for the program seniors must be a resident of Warren County, be 60 or over and meet the income guidelines listed below:
• Family size 1, annual income $15,444
• Family size 2, annual income $20,826
