Second Saturday events, a chance to shop, stroll, enjoy a meal and listen to live music, return to downtown McMinnville just in time for Mother’s Day.

Main Street McMinnville kicks off another season of Second Saturday events this Saturday, May 8, the eve of Mother’s Day. Participating businesses will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. Attendees will also be treated to live music from Marilyn Harris, Thomas Steger and Mr. T Band, and Kelly and Friends.

On Second Saturdays, downtown businesses serve the community by providing extended hours in a pleasant atmosphere. Participating businesses include Renewed Creations, The Vintage Market, Evelyn Taylor Avenue, Wink, Ashley’s Attic, Lemon, Red Door Kids, and McMinnville Florist. Check out restaurants Collins River BBQ, PI.E Truck, TOPZ/ Metro Deli, and the recently released dinner menu at Cumberland Biscuit Company.

Main Street McMinnville started Second Saturday events in 2020 as a new and safe way for people to experience downtown during the COVID-19 pandemic. The outpouring of community support for downtown businesses during those events encouraged Main Street to organize another series this year.

Main Street McMinnville board member Katie Kemezis says small businesses are the life blood of small-town communities like McMinnville.

Our historic downtown is home to over 50 small businesses and organizations.

“For every $100 spent at a small business, research by Civic Economics found that $68 stays in the community. Shopping small for Mother’s Day gifts will ensure a unique gift for mom that also supports her hometown,” Kemezis said.
