A McMinnville woman has been charged with filing a false police report, a step allegedly taken to conceal a crime perpetrated against a handicapped individual.

McMinnville Police detective Austin Wortman has charged Carolyn Denise Seals, 59, with theft of property and filing a false police report.

“Ms. Seals filed a police report on April 29. She advised that an unknown subject entered the home and took money belonging to the patient she was caring for. Taken was $82, according to Ms. Seals,” said Wortman.

Things weren’t adding up during the investigation.

“She made conflicting statements,” said Wortman. “During a subsequent interview, Ms. Seals admitted that she had filed a false report regarding the incident and that no burglary had occurred. She was taken into custody on May 10.”
