A threat to "shoot up the school" on the last day of the school year has led to the arrest of a 17-year-old male and his adult girlfriend, Brooke L. Covino.

According to McMinnville Police Department (MPD) Detective Christopher McCormick, in the early-morning hours of Friday, May 24, just after midnight, FBI agents and TBI agents were notified by Snapchat of a threat of a possible school shooting in Warren County which had been intercepted.

MPD Lt. Matt Stubblefield and Sgt. Evan Cooper were alerted to the situation by FBI and TBI agents. MPD Detective Chris Summers and Lt. Tony Jenkins, along with Warren County Sheriff's Department Investigator Calvin Hammond and Jared Jacobs of Homeland Security, began an investigation into the threat.

The Snapchat account which sent the message, "I am a drug dealer, and I am going to shoot up the school,“ was traced back to a 17-year-old juvenile male.

The male was reportedly found by law enforcement at his girlfriend's residence. Upon further investigation, it was determined the 17-year-old had traded a rifle and THC vapes for a handgun and extra magazines, which were found in his possession. The juvenile was taken into custody and transported to a juvenile detention facility. He was charged with threats of mass violence against school property.

Also on May 24, Detective McCormick and MPD Officer Tristan Shirley found evidence that the 17-year-old's adult girlfriend, Covino, had knowingly assisted the juvenile in retaining and illegally possessing the handgun and magazines. Covino was arrested and charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Covino and the juvenile both are scheduled to appear in front of General Sessions Judge Ryan J. Moore.
