Construction projects throughout the school system are still ongoing. The Warren County Middle School parking lot paving has begun, but will not be completely finished by the time school starts.
At the Warren County School Board Meeting Monday night, Director of Schools Dr. Grant Swallows gave an update on the ongoing projects. WCMS had a new addition built on the front of the building. That entrance will not be operational until the parking lot is paved. Swallows informed the board that the paving has begun.
The paving will be done in sections. Part A is the section directly in front of the new addition. Part B goes from Caldwell Street behind the building around the loop in front of the auditorium.
Part C goes from the loop down to the football field. Part B could potentially be completed by the time school starts.
“Paving at the Warren County Middle School, if you have been by there in the last day or so, it is getting pretty exciting to see all the pavement go down. They have the binders down on parts B and C and part A, they have grated that and construction has started on the concrete work,” said Swallows.
“It is really looking good. I have had several comments from people excited about that. We are anxiously hoping at least part B will be finished by the time school starts. I think that will happen,” Swallows said.
Swallows asks for patience while these paving projects are ongoing. He says the pickup and drop-off at WCMS will be like it was at the end of the school year last year.
“Lots going on. There will be a lot to continue. I would just ask that there be some patience, especially at the middle school, as we begin the year because we will still be under construction. WCMS is working on planning for that. The pickup and drop-off will be just like it was to end the year,” he said. “I will also ask for some patience when we start football season and there are a lot of people looking for parking spots. Again, we’re pretty excited about it, but it is going to take us a little while to get there.”
