A man who reportedly had sex with a 14-year-old girl 11 times over a single weekend has been bound to the grand jury on statutory rape charges.
The suspect, Ricky Lee Rogers, 19, waived his right to a preliminary hearing and was bound to the grand jury on three counts of statutory rape, one count for each day he allegedly had sex with the girl. In addition to being bound to the grand jury, Rogers also lost his judicial diversion for a prior conviction and was placed on probation for one year and must pay $250 plus costs.
Rogers was charged with the felony counts after sheriff’s investigators were alerted to allegedly illegal activity between him and the girl.
“The victim gave statements the two had sex 11 times between the night of Feb. 12 and the morning of Feb. 14,” said sheriff’s investigator Jason Rowland in his warrants against Rogers.
The investigator said he learned the two had sex on multiple occasions on each of those days. He did not reveal where the illegal contact happened. However, the 19-year-old reportedly confessed.
“When questioned about the incidents, he admitted having sex with the victim on those dates,” Rowland noted.
Statutory rape is an adult having illegal sexual contact with a person under the age of 18 if the adult is more than four years older than the juvenile. In Rogers’ case, he was one year over the legal limit. He could face one to two years in prison on each count.
