Blood donor and advocate Jessica Jacobs will have a blood drive in her honor at Fairview Community Center. Jacobs passed away in April but her memory continues with a fundraiser and blood drive by Blood Assurance on Saturday, Aug 7.

Jacobs had been donating blood through Blood Assurance since 2015. Trudy Cody of Blood Assurance said, “She was one of the biggest advocates for donating blood and getting people to donate.” Cody said that wherever there was a drive, Jacobs always helped to find donors.

All the donors will get a cooler bag, food from the community center, and for those who have donated twice this year, a chance to win a side-by-side. The side-by-side giveaway is for all the Blood Assurance drives in 2021. Members of Fairview Community Center will be preparing a meal for those who donate.

It is recommended that you sign up online for the drive. Cody said, “I think it’s going to be a big turnout.”

Signing up online makes it easier for Blood Assurance to get everyone in and out and minimize the amount of people waiting in line. It is also important you eat a good meal, drink water, avoid energy drinks and bring an ID before your scheduled appointment.

The drive will be from noon on Aug. 7 until 5 p.m. at Fairview Community Center. To schedule an appointment, visit, or contact Trudy Cody at (931) 239-9411.
