Recommendations from fair lovers

Some people can’t get enough of the Warren County A&L Fair so we asked a few local fair lovers to share their recommendations.

Jonathan Womack says he goes to the fair nearly every day. Here are his top picks.

Must do: “Of course, the food booths, especially the Lucky CIC booth and we help volunteer with that one.”

Must see: “For me, every year, my family and I go through the Pioneer Village. It is educational for my children. I have an 11-year-old and a 14-year-old so taking time to show them the way people used to live is important to me.”

Must eat: “A cheeseburger.”

Another frequent fair-goer and member of the Fair Board is Tracey Scott. She says volunteers spend countless hours to make the event enjoyable for everyone. She shares her three fair musts.

Must do: “Play as many water games as you can. Also, all children should do the youth judging because they can learn so much information about agriculture from this one activity.”

Must see: “All of our exhibits and the petting zoo. The petting zoo offers a close-up experience with animals that are not native to our area. Our exhibits are a time for local community members to show off their many talents.”

Must eat: “A corn dog.”

Centertown resident Michael Pack has been to the fair every day this week. He says it’s a good way to enjoy yourself at low cost. His suggestions are below.

Must do: “Go to all the live events. I enjoy watching the local performers by the Blacksmith Shop.”

Must see: “My wife and I enjoy people watching and seeing friends on the midway. You’ll even run into people you haven’t seen since high school.”

Must eat: “A fried chicken sandwich at the Fairview booth.”

As for Tara Mullins, she hasn’t missed a day of the fair since college. This self-proclaimed fair fan had trouble narrowing down her selections.

Must do: “It’s hard because I like to partake in it all, but I’d say attend the Fairest of the Fair pageants.”

Must see: “The concerts on Thursday. The Fair Board does an excellent job lining up wonderful entertainment and I just love the atmosphere.”

Must eat: “Fried Oreos from Eva’s Concessions.”

So break your diet and indulge in some cotton candy. Go check out a livestock show and watch kids care for their animals. Invite some family members who have moved away to revisit the fair. If you haven’t been this week, you have until Saturday night.
