McMinnville Police Department will be phasing out its police cars in favor of SUVs.
McMinnville Police Department will be slowly making the change from cruisers to SUVs. Police Chief Bryan Denton has asked the Board of Mayor and Aldermen to purchase four 2018 Police Pursuit Rated Utility Vehicles from Kidd Ford for $111,450 to begin what is being called “gradual” phasing out of cars.“With all the equipment we have to haul now, they are better suited to that, and they are more visible,” said Denton of the SUVs.Two of the vehicles would be paid for out of the department’s Drug Fund. Denton said law enforcement agencies are switching to SUVs.“Like most law enforcement agencies, we are probably going to have a gradual transfer to that type of vehicle as we phase the cars out.
