A lease agreement extension for the Police Department will be under consideration between the city of McMinnville and the owners of Red Road Business Park.
The lease will expire Aug. 31 without an extension notice.
“Our lease is up at the end of the month,” said McMinnville Police Chief Bryan Denton. “They need something written from the board to exercise the two-year option that is on the agreement.”
Denton’s request was made before members of the city’s Safety Committee on Aug. 13.
City attorney Tim Pirtle offered to generate the necessary paperwork.
“It was a three-year lease with an option for an additional two,” he said. “We are exercising the additional two years, right? Same everything?”
Denton replied, “Yes.”
Rent will remain $3,500 a month.
Per the existing agreement, either party may terminate the lease agreement with a 180-day written notice. At lease termination, all improvements made to the real property and surrounding facility will remain at no charge to the landlord.
Red Road Business Park is owned by Ricky Minton and David Hill.
Committee members approved the lease agreement extension for two more years. That recommendation will be sent to the full McMinnville Board of Mayor and Aldermen for its consideration.
