The holidays are upon us. To celebrate, the Park Theatre Group and Paula’s Dance Academy are presenting The Nutcracker Fantasy, showing Friday and Saturday, Dec. 13-14 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 15 at 2 p.m. at the Park Theater.
The Nutcracker Fantasy is a fitting way to introduce young children to the power and beauty of classical ballet. A magical score, fairytale scenery, Paula Barnes and Camryn Austin’s choreography and staging combine to create one of the most fantastic local productions of The Nutcracker Fantasy.
The opening scene is Christmas Eve in a late 19th century Victorian town. Family and friends gather at the home of Clara Stahlbaum and her family to celebrate the Christmas Holiday.
During the celebration, Uncle Drosselmeyer, magician and uncle to Clara, comes to the party. He brings with him, special gifts which include a Jack-N-Box, Masked Dancer and a Music Box Doll.
Uncle Drosselmeyer chooses Clara to receive a special Nutcracker doll as her Christmas gift.
As the party comes to a close, Clara and her family head off to bed. Too excited to sleep, Clara comes back to the living room to admire her Nutcracker and finally falls asleep on the chair
Uncle Drosselmeyer then creates a magical spell that sends the Christmas Angel to transport Clara into a dream fantasy world where she encounters a Mouse Queen with her army of Mice, Toy Soldiers, and her beloved Nutcracker who comes to life. After the battle, her Nutcracker transforms into a handsome Prince.
It’s a Christmas show great for the whole family and one you won’t want to miss.
Ticket price is $16. Children under 3 are free when not taking a seat. Tickets are currently available through the Park Theater box office.
