Artwork depicting the life of Jesus will be on display.
The birth of Jesus Christ will be praised this weekend during a three-day Community Nativity Festival that begins Friday night.Hundreds of nativity sets from 20 countries are one of the event highlights, along with artwork, live music, and a reenactment.“From the moment you walk through the doors, you will be greeted by hundreds of poinsettias, lovely Christmas trees with twinkling lights and a sweet, all-too-rare, feeling of peace,” said Miriam Crawford, one of the event organizers.The third-annual event is free and open to everyone. Times are Friday, Dec. 9 from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10 from 3 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 11 from 2 to 5 p.m. It’s held at 183 Underwood Road next to McMinnville Funeral Home and sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.In addition to nativity sets from around the world, a favorite for many visitors is the two rooms of fine artwork depicting the birth and life of Christ.Live music will be on stage daily. Some of the artists include The Company I Keep, with Dr. Sam Young, Dr. Gene Maxwell and friends featured Friday.
