A 25-year-old woman who was found riding naked on a bicycle Tuesday told a wild story of getting kidnapped and raped, but officers believe most of that information is not accurate.
“We think she could be having some mental issues,” said McMinnville Police Capt. Nicole Mosley, who said the case remains under investigation and no charges have been leveled thus far.
Officers responded to a call of a woman riding naked on a bicycle Tuesday afternoon around Circle View Trailer Court on South Chancery Street. When they arrived, they came in contact with the 25-year-old, who said she was driving in her car when she was carjacked.
According to her initial story, she was sitting at a red light when a man jumped in her vehicle and forced her out of the driver’s seat. He began driving down the road with her in the passenger seat.
Fearing for her safety, the woman said she grabbed the wheel and forced the vehicle off the road. It crashed into a field, she said.
At that point, the woman said the man climbed out of the vehicle, pointed a gun at her and demanded for her to take off her clothes. She complied and said she managed to escape the assault by kicking the man in the groin and running away naked.
She reportedly fled to a nearby lumber yard where she found the bike and decided to ride it.
“She changed her story a number of times,” said Mosley. “She said she was raped and then she said she wasn’t raped. She said she was carjacked, but had no idea where.”
Mosley said the only information that appears accurate is that the woman crashed her vehicle. It was found off Ben La Drive, which is off Shangri La Lane near the bypass.
