McMinnville Police Department is settling into its new Main Street home at City Hall.
“It is exciting to be based downtown,” said McMinnville Police Chief Bryan Denton. “Reaction from the public has been positive and the officers are happy to be in the facility. We believe the public will be better served from the department’s more central location. We also think it will bring a heightened sense of security to the downtown residents, merchants and their patrons.”
Regular administrative business hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday. The business office phone number remains unchanged: 473-3808.
Police services from the downtown location include:
• Walk-in reporting of community issues, criminal activity, citizen concerns
• Picking up copies of crash and incident reports
• Driver Safety School
• Municipal Court
• Police administration
• Prescription medicine drop box
• After-hours payment drop box
• Community engagement activities such as Citizens Police Academy
The department will also have a location on Bell Street. However, that location will be used for storage and overflow parking only.
An emergency phone has been installed. It is located inside the building on the courthouse side near the walkup window for McMinnville Water Department customers. If emergency assistance is needed, that phone connects directly to the E-911 center.
As always, said Denton, to have a police officer dispatched for traditional police services such as accident investigation, reporting criminal activity, escorts, traffic concerns, etc., residents may call 911 for emergencies or 668-7000 for non-emergency situations.
