A medical issue appears to be the cause of a three-vehicle accident which occurred Thursday afternoon.
According to Tennessee Highway Patrol Sergeant Kevin Ballew, Cierra Shadrick, 19 was traveling east on Highway 30 in a Nissan Jeep when she reportedly veered into the other lane, striking two vehicles. She reportedly struck a 2018 Ford flatbed hauling an excavator driven by Tyler Keaton, 31, and a Chevy Traverse driven by Cheryl Legassie, 53.
Ballew says when Shadrick topped the hill on Highway 30, she crossed into the westbound lane and struck Keaton before striking Legassie ,who was traveling directly behind Keaton. Legassie and Shadrick were transported to Ascension Saint Thomas River Park Hospital to be treated for injuries.
“There are no charges at this time. It appears from the investigation that Shadrick had some kind of medical issue causing her to black out and cross into the other traffic,” said Ballew.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Department was also at the scene of the accident. The Southern Standard was asked to leave the scene of the accident by a deputy reportedly acting on the wishes of the sheriff. No explanation was provided for the reason the Standard was asked to leave. The Standard later reached out to the Tennessee Highway Patrol for the above information.
