A McMinnville man dug himself into a legal hole when he used an excavator to dig a trench in a yard on Old Nashville Highway to make the property owner mad.

Jason James McKeon, 36, was handed a two-year sentence to serve as a range one offender on the charges of burglary, theft and vandalism.

According to the arrest warrant, McKeon admitted to using an excavator to dig the trench.

“Mr. McKeon made a phone call while speaking to investigator Steven Carpenter and stated to the person on the phone that he had used the excavator to dig up the yard to make (the victim) mad,” the warrant states.

In addition to digging up the yard, McKeon also admitted to taking items from a workshop located on the property. The victim said all the wiring had been removed from his shop and the fuse box was damaged. The value was estimated at more than $1,000.

“Mr. McKeon admitted to being in the shop and taking some extension cords out,” the arrest warrant states.
