Grand theft charges have been leveled against a man after a stolen trailer was found hitched to the bumper of his Ford truck.
The suspect, Chad Keaton Conner, 36, has been charged with theft over $1,000 and will face hearing June 20.
His charges come after a Mt. Zion man discovered his two-axle horse trailer and its contents, which included a carburetor with intake, barbed wire and angle iron, had been taken. The theft was estimated to have cost the victim around $1,500.
When sheriff’s deputy Jason Satterwhite arrived, he was told the victim had received a call from a friend who told him Conner was trying to sell a trailer like the one that had been taken from the victim. Deputies were dispatched to the Conner residence.
“Deputies went to the location on Griswold Road and discovered the victim’s horse trailer attached to the bumper of a black Ford F-150 belonging to Chad Keaton Conner,” Satterwhite said.
