“Lord of the Flies” will not relocate.
According to Chad McGee, the Warren Arts Board has decided against changing the venue to The Lot on Main Street or Pepper Branch Park for its next production.
“The board decided not to move ‘Lord of the Flies,’” said McGee, to members of the McMinnville Tourism Development Board. “Hopefully we can still partner in the future with a production at Pepper Branch Park. I still think that’s a wonderful idea.”
McGee previously suggested to members of the tourism board that a partnership between it and Warren Arts might be possible so “Lord of the Flies” could be held outside, a setting he felt would put people at ease after the stay-at-home mandate is lifted.
“I think it will be more comfortable for people to gather outside first before they’ll feel comfortable gathering inside,” said McGee.
TDB members offered verbal support for the idea.
Originally slated for two weekends at the end of March and beginning of April, “Lord of the Flies” was postponed due to COVID-19. While exact dates have not been set, the spring production will likely become a summer one and offered after the fear of COVID-19 passes.
