Lopez sentenced for DUI

A drunk driver caught driving on the wrong side of the road with her 8-year-old child in the car has been sentenced to 10 days in jail.The woman, Romeli Lopez, 41, entered guilty pleas before General Sessions Judge Bill Locke to charges of reckless endangerment and DUI. She was ordered to serve 10 days of an 11-month, 29-day sentence, perform 24 hours public service work, attend DUI Class, and lose her driver license for one year.She was arrested after sheriff’s deputy Brystol Davis spotted her black Nissan Sentra driving on the wrong side of Smithville Highway, headed toward McMinnville.“I turned around and observed the vehicle driving on the white line and into the ditch twice,” the deputy recalled.He pulled her over and smelled alcohol on her. He also found alcohol in the vehicle.“She admitted she had been drinking,” the deputy noted, adding her 8-year-old was a passenger.
