Funeral service is Wednesday for a McMinnville resident killed last week in a collision with a stopped school bus.
Warren County native Marcus Scott “Buddy” Tittsworth, 28, died Friday around 7 a.m. when his GMC pickup crashed into the back of a school bus. The accident took place on the four-lane between Woodbury and Murfreesboro in the Kittrell community of Rutherford County.
According to a report from WSMV, the Highway Patrol said the school bus was stopped and students were just about to board the bus on John Bragg Highway when a pickup truck slammed into the back of it. The bus was carrying 10 students at the time. Six of the students attend Kittrell Elementary and the four others go to Oakland High School.
No one aboard the school bus was injured, including the bus driver, 53-year-old Curtis Manus.
Law enforcement officials said the school bus had activated its flashing lights and had its stop sign extended. Witnesses said Tittsworth’s pickup did not appear to slow as it approached the bus and collided with it at highway speeds.
“We are looking into what caused this crash to happen. We are also looking to see if the sun played a factor,” said Highway Patrolman Travis Plotzer.
A workout enthusiast who regularly visited the gym, Tittsworth was a truck driver with Federal Express. He is survived by a number of family members in the Warren County community.
