Magness Library is closed for the next two weeks after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19.

Magness Library closed Thursday due to coronavirus exposure.

“The staff of Magness Library has had exposure to COVID-19,” said Magness Library director Brad Walker. “As a precautionary measure the library will be shutting down for a minimum of two weeks. Thank you for your patience as we navigate through this difficult time.”

The library closed to the public in mid-March and opened in May with limited services such as an online summer reading session, limited computer access, and curbside service for book pickup. Safety precautions for employees were placed to meet social distancing guidelines.

“The library has attempted to be open as much as possible during this crisis,” said Walker. “However, with the pandemic, one never truly knows who has been exposed and where the infection may have started.”

During the two-week hiatus, the building will be professionally cleaned and staff will be tested. At this time, no date has been set for the library to reopen.
