“One Night with Conway” is coming to McMinnville to entertain country music fans as award-winning singer Gil Grand hits the Park Theater stage next weekend for his first U.S. show.
“I decided to pursue songs that inspired me so I put together a show consisting of 26 of Conway Twitty’s biggest hits,” said Grand in an interview with the Standard.
Grand was born and raised in Canada, but he came to Tennessee and has made it his home since 2007. Grand signed in 1997 with Monument Records.
“Country music is what I grew up on. Folks don’t realize Canada is the same as the U.S. when it comes to country music,” said Grand. “The idols I grew up listening to are Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, George Jones and of course, Conway Twitty.”
Grand is the winner of Producer of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year awards for the Canadian Country Music Awards.
The tour of “One Night with Conway” began in Canada and took off as Grand began selling out shows so he decided to bring it to the United States. The upcoming show on Saturday, June 29, at the Park Theater will be the very first U.S. production of “One Night with Conway.”
Grand and his wife have hung posters, met the manager of the Park Theater, Kevin Roberts, and met the locals. “We’re excited to come and play here,” says Grand.
Hit songs including “It’s Only Make Believe,” “Hello, Darling” and “Slow Hand” will be performed during the concert along with many more.
“I was influenced by the big country stars of Nashville and to now be able to sing the songs that molded me and my career is a dream come true for me,” said Grand.
”One Night with Conway” will begin at 8 p.m. and tickets are $30. The show will last 90 minutes and include an intermission. Tickets are available at the Park Theater on the day of or before the show. Tickets are also available online at hellotwitty.com.
