Some candidates were quick out of the gate Friday as it marked the first day to pick up qualifying papers for the 2018 county election.It promises to be a hectic year of campaigning as virtually every county office is up for grabs. The races for sheriff, county executive and circuit court clerk are expected to be crowded as the incumbents have announced they will not seek re-election.Voters will get a chance to visit the polls three times in 2018. The county primary will be held May 1 before the county general election Aug. 2.
