Projected savings of $46,235 to use the existing geothermal system on a $10 million expansion of McMinnville Civic Center is fair.
“The pricing is not just acceptable, it is actually generous for the items that have been removed from the project,” said HFR Design project manager Kris Teubel. “Upon review of it, it is within range. It’s good pricing.”
McMinnville officials previously approved using the existing geothermal system for heating and cooling the additions being constructed at the facility. However, some members expressed distrust for the projected savings of $46,235 offered by CHC Mechanical Contractors, the company installing the heating and cooling portion of the project.
HFR Design was asked to review the cost saving and offer its opinion. Teubel’s statements were made during the last meeting of the city’s Ad Hoc Committee.
“That’s good,” said Mayor Ben Newman, who sits on the committee with Aldermen Kate Alsbrook and Steve Harvey.
With the projected savings confirmed by HFR Design, acceptance of the amount would require committee consideration and approval by the full Board of Mayor and Aldermen.
