Warren County Health Department provided more than 350 food vouchers to seniors in June.

The Senior Farmers Market Program is for Warren County residents who are 60 years and older and meet income guidelines.

The program is designed to assist seniors in purchasing fresh fruits and vegetables by utilizing vouchers at the Warren County Farmers Market.
“The Health Department provided over 350 vouchers to seniors to use at the Warren County Farmers Market,” said Kaitlin Patterson, health educator for Warren County Health Department.

Applications were accepted, and the department began issuing vouchers June 28. Participants who met eligibility requirements received $30 to $40 in vouchers for July and August.

An update was given during a county Health and Welfare Committee meeting to receive monthly reports.

“During June 2018, the Health Department provided 2,198 visits to 2,026 clients,” said Patterson. “During that month, the department also provided 167 vaccines.”

Patterson attended the meeting in place of Heath Department director Andrea Fox.
