Gum busted for selling meth, gun to detectives

A man was taken into custody after undercover detectives purchased drugs and a firearm from him. 

Jared T. Gum was taken into custody on Tuesday, Feb. 13 by the McMinnville Police Department. Over the past month, detectives received information about Gum selling methamphetamine and possessing firearms. Detectives had prior knowledge that Gum is a felon out of Warren County for aggravated assault and possession of a prohibited weapon. 

Accord-ing to MPD, during the investigation detectives were able to successfully purchase methamphetamine and a firearm from Gum. 

He was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony and sale of methamphetamine.  

Gum is currently under a $175,000 bond. This investigation was a joint effort with MPD, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) and the District Attorney’s Office.
