After six terms, Warren County Sheriff Jackie Matheny has announced he will not seek re-election in 2018. He will leave office as the longest serving sheriff in county history.
Local residents looking to help mold the shape of Warren County can do so by running for office.Nearly every elected position in county government is up for grabs in 2018 with qualifying petitions now available at the Election Commission on Locust Street. Petitions must be signed by 25 registered voters in your district and returned by Feb. 15 at noon.Compensation for county government officials is determined by TCA 8-24-102. This law provides for an automatic increase in salary each year based on the percentage increase given to state employees the previous fiscal year.Salaries are based on county population as of the 2010 U.S. Census.
