Get ready to dive in. Gilley Pool opens this Saturday, May 28.
“We’re ready,” said McMinnville Parks and Recreation wellness and aquatics coordinator Matt McColloch. “We’re working on some finishing touches, but the pool is ready. We hope everyone comes out and enjoys it.”
Pool hours will be Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. Those hours will be in effect until Aug. 9. At that time, an abbreviated pool school schedule begins. The pool will be open on Saturdays only from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Labor Day weekend.
Daily admission is $4. Season passes are $85 for individual and $225 for family. Gilley tokens are $4 each. Pool party rentals are $450 with five guards and $25 for each additional guard needed. Dual parties are now being offered for $275.
Dual parties, said McColloch, are a less expensive option for people.
“If you pay $450, you rent the entire pool for a private party,” he said. “If you opt for a dual party for $275, you’re only renting half the pool. If someone else wants to rent the pool at that same time, you will have to share the pool with another party. There’s always the chance you will be the only party and get the entire pool for $275. There’s no guarantee though.”
Pool rentals are available Monday through Friday and Sundays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in June; Sundays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in July; and Sundays from 1:30-3:30 p.m., 4-6 p.m. and 6:30-8:30 p.m. in August.
Concessions and prices remain unchanged. Offered will be hot dogs, pizza, hamburgers, nachos, pretzels, ice cream, and candy.
The rain check policy:
• In case of lighting – pool will remain closed for 30 minutes after the last sighted bolt.
• In case of thunder – pool will remain closed 20 minutes after last sound of thunder.
Rain checks are given only if the pool closes for the day. There are no rain checks after 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday. No rain checks after 4 p.m. on Sundays. Rain checks are good for two weeks.
Gilley Pool closes for the 2016 season Sept. 3.
