What started as an attempt to steal beer from a Newtown store has brought felony assault charges against a man after he allegedly threatened one cashier with a hatchet and then tried to run over another store employee.The suspect, Justin Lee Pendergraph, 36, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He faces three to six years on both counts.He was arrested after he tried to steal two beers at Hina Food Market in Newtown.“He was observed by the victim concealing two 24-ounce Bud Ice beers inside the front pockets of his hoodie,” said McMinnville police detective Stuart Whitman. “When confronted about the concealed beer, he removed the cans, placing them on the counter.
