Drugs, guns and money have landed a convicted felon behind bars after he returned home to find lawmen searching his residence.
The suspect, William Markale Conaway, 20, is charged with possession of drugs and possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony. He will appear before General Sessions Judge Bill Locke on July 25 for preliminary hearing on the felony counts.
Sheriff’s officers executed the search warrant on his Robert Smith Road home and were soon able to find a cache of drugs, including 12 ounces of marijuana, eight grams of cocaine, a glass pipe and a digital scale. They also found a 45-caliber pistol which they discovered was stolen out of Rutherford County.
“Conaway pulled up in a car,” revealed sheriff’s investigator Steven Carpenter. “When approached by deputies, he ran on foot. He was apprehended a short time later by deputy Chris McCormick.”
Officers found four grams of cocaine on Conaway’s person at the time of his arrest and four hydrocodone pills were found in the backseat of the patrol car where he had been sitting while being transported to jail. Lawmen believe he discarded the pills during his ride to jail.
