Hickory Creek FCE met Dec. 9 for the regular monthly meeting and annual Christmas luncheon at One 22 West in Tullahoma. The meeting was called to order by President Gibbs at 11:30 a.m. In the absence of chaplain Ann Whitman, Phyllis Hillis lead the blessing for the food.
Fourteen members were in attendance at the luncheon, and treasurer Marian Jacobs gave the financial report.
President Gibbs reported 318 food items were collected for the Warren County Food Bank, and 73 toys were collected for the Warren County Rescue Squad Toy Drive. Several items were collected to be donated to the Senior Center as Bingo prizes. A motion was made by Martha McBride for the last quarter community service donation to be given to the Warren County Food Bank.
The members discussed continuing the $5 dues each month. Also discussed was the continuation of $5 cash gift by each member to members celebrating birthdays during the meeting month.
Gibbs reminded everyone the secretary book, Gold Stars, scrapbook and books read have to be turned in by Jan. 31. Gibbs reminded the club we have five new members for the year. Hillis, Robbie Prater, McBride and Marian Jacobs volunteered to man the Bloodmobile on Jan. 10. January is Hickory Creek’s month to visit McMinnville Boarding Home to play Bingo and celebrate birthdays. The educational chairpersons will remain the same with the exception of Janis Darnaby joining Ann Whitman as wellness co-chair.
Gibbs reminded everyone that January is FCE recruitment month and encouraged each of us to bring a prospective member to the January meeting. Darnaby announced that the first class of Crafting Then and Now will be at the Administration Building. The Swedish weaving class was a lot of fun. All future classes will be the first Monday of each month. The February class will be basket weaving, and the March class will be on quilting. A sewing machine will be required for this class.
Following the meeting, we enjoyed a delicious lunch, and the Secret Santa gift exchange.
