Fair pageant time nears

Kelby Nunley, the reigning Tiny Fairest of the Fair, holds a 2019 fair book. The books are currently available at area merchants.

Candy-apple fun is just around the corner at the Warren County A&L Fair, which means it’s time to register for fair pageants.

Sign-ups are taking place at the Caney Fork Electric auditorium this Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m., and this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration is for all fair pageants.

“It’s your one-stop shop,” said Susan Burks, chair of Fairest of the Fair.

Pageants are open to contestants from 6 months to 20 years old. Burks said competing in a fair pageant is a great way to create lasting memories for the whole family.

“The Fairest of the Fair is such a tradition,” said Burks. “For some of the girls, their grandmother participated and so did their mother.”

The cost of the Baby Show and all the pageants is $30, which includes having the participant’s picture published in the newspaper.
