McMinnville’s Evening Exchange Club was recently awarded the Sprague Award at the National Exchange Convention for best club in the Tennessee district.

It has been 19 years since McMinnville Evening Exchange has been honored with this prestigious accolade.

“This was the most exciting convention that I’ve been to,” said longtime Exchangite Leda Roberts. “It’s not just a small area. It covers all of Tennessee, part of Kentucky and part of Arkansas.”

Roberts and Evening Exchange Club president Neva England spent weeks filling out a seven-page application and providing documentation for the Tennessee district competition.

Added Roberts proudly, “Everything we do as a club has to be documented for the Sprague Award. We took the application and this scrapbook and lo and behold, McMinnville Exchange is the best club in the district!”

Additionally, after adding eight new members, McMinnville Exchange has been elevated to a medium-club category.

According to Roberts, another interesting thing happened at the National Exchange Convention. Neva England was nominated from the floor to be district president-elect and she won.

“She is an excellent leader and we’re excited to rally around Neva to help her get through this next year as both president and president-elect of the district,” said Roberts from the podium.
