It’s summer, but that hasn’t stopped the energy savings taking place at Warren County schools.
Recent upgrades by Energy Savings Group are continuing to show reductions in financial reports, which is part of a plan to lower the school system’s annual $1.6 million energy bill. Director of Schools Bobby Cox shared a recent update.
“The maintenance department building and the central office teacher center are showing the biggest discrepancy in savings so we are trying to determine what the issue is there but the overall savings for May 2019 compared to May 2017, which was baseline year, was $19,027.55 savings in electrical cost,” explained Cox.
So far, a total of 10,066 fixtures have been converted to LED with 312 remaining, which is 97 percent complete. The rough-in wiring is approximately 40 percent complete across the district. Installation of weather stripping is 100 percent complete and has been installed on all exterior doors – 609 man doors and 15 overhead doors.
As for installation of HVAC work, the WCMS gymnasium is complete and a chiller is being delivered and installed this week. At Hickory Creek, the boiler installation is complete. For Bobby Ray, first-floor refrigerant piping is installed and under pressure testing and second-floor piping is being installed, all individual room units are installed and all electrical and controls wiring is complete.
Next week, a helicopter crane will be setting the rooftop units at West Elementary and installation is expected to begin.
