Preston Denney received a unanimous vote of confidence Monday as the next Warren County EMS director.
It will be one more week and one more vote before it’s official.
County Safety Committee members Teddy Boyd, chair, Carl D. Bouldin, Randy England, Ron Lee and Charles Morgan approved the appointed of Denney as director.
“I guess we need to ask Preston if he’s interested in moving on with your position,” said Boyd.
Denney stated, “Yes, if you are interested in me.”
Denney has been with EMS since 1999 and was appointed as interim director in January. Since that time, committee members have been impressed with the positive changes within the department, including the improvement in department employee morale.
“When you took over in January, you were gung-ho and everything seems to have turned around,” said England. “In my opinion, everything seems to be going good out there. Nothing is losing steam, is it? I’m just asking.”
Denney replied, “I don’t think it has. We’re still making a few changes. A few things that we initially did that we thought were going to be great, they did help but they weren’t great. We had to go back and revisit a few of those.”
“Nothing will ever be perfect,” said England.
Bouldin agreed and added, “You are always going to have problems in the workplace in one way or another, no matter what you do.”
The measure will be sent to the full Warren County Commission on Sept. 19 for its consideration.
