You rang?
Audiences are being summoned to the Park Theater this week to hear the familiar snapping and enjoy the dark charm of “The Addams Family,” a musical from Dream Reality Group.
Shows are scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., with a matinee Saturday at 2 p.m. Tickets are on sale at the Park Theater box office and online through Ticket Biscuit.
“This show is spooky and ooky and all things Addams Family,” said director Logan Taylor in his eighth production at the Park Theater. “There’s also outrageous, over-the-top humor for adults and teenagers. It’s a show the whole family will love.”
Members of the Addams Family are nothing if not peculiar with mother Morticia known to cut the flowers off roses and keep the thorny stems in a vase. Their butler, Lurch, appears out of nowhere when he is summoned by a bell and answers with his trademark, “You rang?”
The musical follows the story of Addams Family daughter Wednesday, who falls in love with a boy who’s not unusual at all. He’s normal. When his family is invited to dinner at the Addams home, it sets the stage for crazy antics.
“This boy is nerdy and conservative and if there’s anything we know about the Addams Family, they are anything but that,” said Taylor. “We’re so thankful people have been supportive and receptive to these shows. I’ve always wanted to do something like ‘The Addams Family’ and there’s no better time than Halloween.”
