Warren County’s Fairgrounds Convenience Center has become even more accessible with the inclusion of a new gate to be used as an entrance, establishing a circle drive.

“One gate was used to both enter and exit the area and wasn’t working out well,” said Warren County Sanitation Department director Josh Roberts, who says traffic jams would be created during high-volume times. “We added a new gate closer to the Warren County Highway Department so people can pull in, circle through, and exit out the old gate.”

Change doesn’t come easy for some. Roberts says diverting traffic hasn’t been easy because people have become accustomed to pulling into what is now the exit.

“We have signs up, but visitors are still trying to come in through the exit that they are used to using as an entrance,” said Roberts. “Once everyone gets used to the new traffic flow, it’s going to make everything run smoother and quicker. All the comments I’ve received so far have been positive. Once people realize what we’re doing, they like it.”

Residents visiting the convenience center are urged to be observant and adhere to the new entrance and the traffic flow.

The department is also establishing specific days and times for disabled people. During those times, someone would be available to unload their garbage. That announcement is expected soon.
