Conservation Service seeks input from locals

The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) works in partnership with Soil Conservation Districts (SCDs) to seek input from local working groups (LWGs) on local conservation program delivery as part of the Agricultural Act of 2014.
LWGs are the community stakeholders that are best suited to deal with local resource programs. Over the years, LWGs have successfully identified concerns, implemented solutions, and evaluate results that have solved the many local natural resource needs throughout Tennessee.
The SCD has the responsibility to assemble and chair the LWG. The local working group membership should be diverse and focused on agricultural interest and natural resource issues existing in the local community. Membership should include agricultural producers, owners of nonindustrial private forest land, representatives of agricultural and environmental organizations and representatives of government agencies carrying out agricultural and natural resources conservation.
The focus of the LWG will be to identify priority resource concerns in the local area and develop ranking questions that will give priority to the identified resource concerns.  Options are County Forest, County Crop, County Pasture and Hay.
The Warren County Soil Conservation District has set the local meeting to be held Sept. 21 at 10:30 a.m. at the Ag Service Center located at 811 Faulkner Springs Road. The public is invited to attend.
