City of McMinnville goes live with new site

The city of McMinnville has launched its new website.

“I guess the thing we love the most is the video,” said Jennifer Rigsby, HR administrator for the city. “We can scroll pictures, if that’s what we want to do, or we can keep the video going. We plan to change it by season and with different things going on in the community. We can shoot Autumn Street Fair. We can shoot Smokin’ in McMinnville. We can change it whenever we want.”

Among the features, residents can pay their water bill, apply for permits, submit an employment application, view the city’s charter, submit questions, upcoming events, review meeting agendas and minutes from those meetings, contacts information for all city departments and elected officials, etc.

“On the old website, we had a feed where we put news to the website and then it fed to Facebook,” said Rigsby. “Now we are doing the exact opposite. What we feed to Facebook, will feed to the website. We will have more accurate stuff and greater detail.”

It is compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

“With this upgrade, we are completely ADA compliant,” said Rigsby. “We have our translations. The pictures have voice-activated software. We had some of that capability before but not all of it.”
