The registration deadline is next week for the 2021 McMinnville Christmas Parade set for Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. Up for grabs is $1,500 in cash prizes in several categories.
Registration is due Wednesday, Nov. 24. Applications are available at Milner Recreation Center. The entry fee is $30.
“We have around 30 entries,” said Michael Benusches, recreation program coordinator with McMinnville Parks and Recreation.
This year’s theme is Songs of Christmas, and all entries must be decorated per the theme. Candy must be handed out by walkers, not tossed from parade entries.
Categories and cash prizes:
• People’s Choice – $200
• Best Band – $100
• School/sponsored group – first place $200, second place $150, third place $100
• Church/civic group/community organization/ large nonprofit – first $100, second $75, third $50
• Small club/ nonprofit (less than 20 members – first $100, second $75, third $50
• Business (trophies given to first and second places) – first $50, second $25
• Horse and rider club/mule or horse and hitch – first $50, second $25
• Antique car or truck – first $75, second $50, third $25
Parade lineup will be around Milner Recreation Center starting at 11:30 a.m.
A traditional parade route will be used: down Clark Boulevard, left onto West Main, right by Hardee’s and travel the length of Main Street to the Beersheba/ E. Colville intersection, and a right onto East Colville. The parade ends at the intersection of Colville and Market streets.
