Caldwell gets year in jail for stealing from Walmart

A man with sticky fingers has been sentenced to a year in jail after he was caught on camera stealing from the local Walmart on numerous occasions.The man, Randy Allen Caldwell, 47, entered guilty pleas before Circuit Court Judge Bart Stanley on five counts of theft and was given an 11-month, 29-day sentence to be served at 75 percent. He must also make $1,725 restitution and has been banned from Walmart. He was given 10 additional days in jail for failing to appear for an earlier court date.The Smithville man was sentenced for a rash of shoplifting incidents that transpired over a four-month period at the local Walmart.According to Greg Pescevic of Walmart security, the man was first seen stealing items from the retailer on Nov. 14 of last year when he loaded up a tote full of sporting good items and tools worth an estimated $398.
