Warren County Middle School Cafeteria Manager Jane Burchfield was recognized at the July Warren County School Board meeting as the Classified Employee of the Month.

Students go to school to learn, but they cannot do that on an empty stomach. Burchfield ensures each student gets the fuel they need. She was nominated by WCMS sixth-grade teacher Lynette McKinley.

In her nomination, McKinley said, “We would like to recommend Jane Burchfield for Classified Employee of the Month. Jane is always kind to the students and teachers. She works to make sure the students have what they need. Whether it means stopping by classrooms in the morning to make sure all students got breakfast or making sure the students who have special dietary needs have something to eat. We appreciate all she does for our school.”

Director of Schools Dr. Grant Swallows congratulated Burchfield and thanked her for her hard work. The pandemic put a strain on cafeteria staff all across the county. Swallows acknowledged that it was not always easy for them, but they still ensured the kids were fed.

“Our cafeteria staff over the last three years has been stretched to the limit with all they have had to do and I know that Miss Burchfield and her staff as well as all of our school cafeteria employees have done an exemplary job. We are proud to recognize Miss Burchfield as our Classified Employee of the Month,” said Swallows.
