Warren County Road Superintendent Levie Glenn presented the family of an employee who recently passed away a plaque in his memory at the November meeting of the Warren County Commission.

Jimmy Beacham was an employee at the Highway Department for over 20 years and left a big impact on his coworkers and the community. Beacham passed away in early October from COVID-19 and Glenn wanted to do something in memory of the longtime employee. Glenn proposed the idea of a plaque in remembrance of Beacham at the Highway and Bridge Committee meeting in October and all the members agreed and got the ball rolling on it immediately.

At the County Commission meeting, Glenn said a few words about Beacham before presenting his wife Cindy Beacham with the plaque.

“Here tonight I would like to recognize a former employee who passed away on Oct. 8. He had been with us for over 20 years. He was a really good employee, a great employee. Dependable and always on time. Perfect attendance. He was a load operator, a bush hog mower, and he’s mowed for no telling how many years. Unfortunately, sickness got him,” said Glenn.

He then went on to talk about how dedicated of an employee Beacham was and how he was like a family member to everyone at the Highway Department.

“He was just kind of like a family member to the Highway Department. He worked days and nights and was on call 24/7. He worked through Christmas. You called Jimmy Beacham and he would be ready to come. He was always positive and had a laugh you could hear 150 feet away. He was a good personality, a hard worker, and he did a lot for the Highway Department and for the community. Just think, the hours at night when you were sleeping, he would be out working,” said Glenn.

Highway Department workers were in attendance at the meeting to show their support for Beacham’s family. Glenn called his family members up to accept the plaque that read, “In Grateful Appreciation to Jimmy Beacham for Your Unwavering Dedication to the Warren County Highway Department for Over 20 Yeats of Service You Will Be Greatly Missed!”

“You just don’t find them like that every day,” said Glenn.
