Warren County High School senior Austin Barry has been named a semifinalist in the 2016 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. Semifinalists were selected from nearly 4,700 candidates from across the country.
To be included is one of the highest honors bestowed upon a graduating senior. Semifinalists are selected on the basis of superior academic and artistic achievements, leadership qualities, strong character, and involvement in the community and school activities. Finalists and scholar announcements will be announced in May.
Barry has been awarded the DeKalb Agricultural Accomplishment Award, the school’s highest agricultural honor, sponsored by Monsanto Company. He is the 2016 Tennessee Star in Agricultural Placement, 2015-16 regional officer, state proficiency winner in dairy placement, job interview finalist, and state officer candidate.
He is the son of Michael Barry, and Gena Billings Barry.
